RCCG History
In the early 70’s God spoke to Pa Akindayomi about his successor who then was not a member of the church. In 1973, a young university lecturer joined the church and Pa Akindayomi recognised him in the spirit as the one that God had spoken about in the past. This man Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who was then a lecturer at the University of Lagos, soon became involved in the church. He was ordained the pastor of the church in 1981.
At this time an open explosion began with the number of parishes growing in leaps and bounds. To date, over 6,000 parishes of this great commission has been established worldwide in about thirty countries. African nations include C’ote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Gambia, Cameroon and South Africa. Globally, the church has spread in England, Germany, France, USA and the Caribbean States of Haiti and Jamaica.
Here in Switzerland, parishes are established in Geneva, Bern, Zurich, and Basel. A number of new parishes are envisaged to be birthed from fellowship home cells in many other cities and towns within Switzerland.
